California I detail below the preview of the match at Gilmore Stadium as it appeared in the Van Nuys News of 29th July. USA team: Jack Milne ©, Bo Lisman, Earl Farrand and Bert Lewis Australia team: Clem Mitchell ©, Bill Rogers, Ernie Evans and Bert Spencer Match & scoring format: 8 heats of 2-lap match races (one Aussie and one American). The winner of each heat scored 2 points and the loser one point, i.e. 24 points available in total. Sadly I have been unable to find a match report. If this is how the meeting was conducted, how does this reconcile with the 61-35 scoreline cabled to Australia from the States???!!! |
